ABSTRACT

Attending to the long-term therapy of a brain-injured person is not an easy task. The treatment can take 4 to 6 years before the residual loss is stabilized, bearing in mind that the learning process continues over the person’s lifetime. Ethically working with a client who has sustained a TBI requires a commitment to the rehabilitation process. It is common that when there is a change of treating personnel that the person with the brain injury regresses, compounding the sense of loss.
