ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION The rainbow effect is an approach that offers a framework for clinicians to deliver quality, measurable health care. Embedded in this approach is that the human spirit is central to all aspects of life for the person with traumatic brain injury. The approach uses the spiritual dimension to capture hope, which leads to motivating the person throughout the recovery process. This approach is specifically individualized with an emphasis given to the client’s pre-injury status, understanding all aspects of the emotional nature, values and belief systems, morals, priorities, character, intellect, interests, and relationships to others. The changes incurred because of the brain injury and the resulting rehabilitation will reflect the pre-injury profile of the client’s life.
