ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses the use of data mining techniques in software engineering and how data mining studies should be reported for purposes of future meta-analysis. Software engineering researchers have a long history of undertaking post-hoc analysis of industrial software project data to investigate issues such as:
• Factors that influence the costs of software projects. • Factors that influence the quality of software components. • Factors that affect the probability of a software project being judged a success.
