ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a more detailed discussion of the validation principles outlined in Chapter 4. Section 7.1 introduces validation of trafc simulation models and puts the presented work in the context of the available literature, at the same time relating it to the key references on which their structures are based. Section 7.2 extends Table 4.2, focusing on how each of the presented measures of goodness-of-t have been used by various researchers. Section 7.3 discusses statistical validation, focusing on hypothesis testing and tests of underlying structures. Application examples are presented in Section 7.4, while the discussion in Section 7.5 concludes the chapter.
