ABSTRACT

Groundwater is the water lled in soil pore spaces and the fractures of rock formations beneath the Earth’s surface as shown in Figure 61.1 [30]. e water table is between the saturated zone (the blue area) and unsaturated zone (the greenish area). Water and air are lled in pores in the unsaturated zone, that is, vadose-zone, while, pores in the saturated zone are lled only with water as shown on the close-up diagram of the bottom of the Figure 61.1.
