ABSTRACT

Hydraulic cylinders often function in a hostile environment and the potential for damage is great. The test procedures of Figure 15.1 one can uncover basic problems. Erratic movement or failure to move may be caused by piston bypass leakage or piston/cylinder bore scoring. Erratic cushion action can be caused by improperly adjusted cushions, scoring of cushion bore/cushion pilot, or faulty cushion speed control mechanism.
