ABSTRACT
Collection system facilities deteriorate due to the corrosive and abrasive nature of the liquid slurry they carry. Sewers are laid underground, are depen dent on the soil support structure, and will fail if subjected to excessive surface loading compounded by deteriorated pipe and lost structural strength. Careless backfilling during new construction also damages sewers. Sewer inspection, needs analysis, and performance evaluations pinpoint lines in need of repairs, replacement, and rehabilitation.
