ABSTRACT

I. Introduction Procedures are an important element in an effective safety program. They

are the means by which to document an accepted step-by-step approach to perform high-risk work safely. Procedures serve to identify known hazards associated with specific work activities and to define the process by which to control those hazards within the context of the work being performed. When developed with the benefitof the collective experience of seasoned tradesmen and technical specialists, procedures offer both employers and their workers the assurance that the work can be completed safely and in compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
