Sepsis is a signicant cause of death, causing 37,000 deaths in the United Kingdom annually.1 The Surviving Sepsis Guidelines 2012 recommend early recognition, resuscitation and administration of antibiotics.2 Early recognition and intervention saves lives. However, some patients with an infection have minimal or even no symptoms or signs, making early recognition difcult.3
