Adoption of electronic health record (EHR) systems in hospitals and physician practices is accelerating. [1] At the same time, however, the lack of usability of EHRs has been identifi ed as an important factor impacting patient safety, [2] and national guidelines have been released to evaluate, test, validate, [3] and document summative usability testing results. [4] In addition, recommendations have been made to improve the usefulness, [5,6,7,8] interoperability, [9] and ability to conduct research [10] of EHRs for pediatric patients.
