ABSTRACT

Shoulder pain can severely compromise a person’s activities of daily living and unfortunately it seems that chronic and recurrent problems are common. The examination of the shoulder may be reassuring to the patient and may provide the practitioner with some idea of the problem and how it impacts on the patient’s life, and it is therefore useful to become familiar with it. It may also determine the advice given to the patient including recommended activity and the need for physiotherapy referral or joint injection.
