ABSTRACT
The sustainable development of the modern society is impossible without the steady increase in the need for energy. Population and income growth are the key drivers behind the growing demand for energy sources. According to BP World Energy Outlook (2013), by 2030, the world’s population is projected to reach 8.3 billion and additional 1.3 billion (1,300,000,000) people shall be supplied with energy. The world’s income in 2030 is expected in real terms to roughly double that of the 2011 level. The world’s primary energy consumption is projected to grow from 2011 to 2030 by 36%.
