ABSTRACT

Due to its achievable speeds, simple system setup, and digitalpattern generation nature, the DFP techniques play an increasingly important role in 3D shape measurement in the past decade. Instead of generating sinusoidal patterns by interference, the DFP technique directly projects sinusoidal patterns onto object surfaces without interference. Since DFP technique allows the use of wide spectrum of light (e.g., white light), the speckle noise pertinent to laser system does not present. This chapter explains the basic principle behind DFP system and presents the dierences between three dierent types of digital video projection technologies, namely DLP, LCD, and LCoS.
