ABSTRACT

The scaling of CMOS technology is changing the way analog circuits are designed. While intrinsic analog performances of transistors (e.g. maximum gain, flicker noise, matching) degrade with scaling, powerful digital signal processing assists analog circuits and boosts their performance at lower and lower area and power consumption. Furthermore, the digital assistance of analog subblocks reduces the overall cost of implementation and the time needed for the design as it benefits from the design automation of digital sections.
