ABSTRACT
Our recent discussions of big data solutions center on what are becoming the “traditional” big data systems, to the extent that we have anything traditional in a new field. By traditional big data, we refer to predictive analytics, machine learning, and other such technologies we have discussed. In comparison with these technologies, discovery is distinct. It pulls together the data from different sources, both structured and unstructured, and creates a single environment in which users can find the data they need and explore trends for further analysis. Discovery is an ideal technology when our staff members need the flexibility to explore data across source systems, assemble data, and use it in their daily work. Discovery is, most of all, user-friendly.
