ABSTRACT

Bipolar limb leads are placed at the right anterior shoulder (white), the left lateral aspect of the rib cage (red), and the left anterior shoulder (black). A memory device for remembering limb lead placement is, “white for right, smoke (black) over fire (red).” The unipolar limb leads consist of aVR, aVL, and aVF. Lead aVR is placed on the right arm, usually at the right wrist, and aVL is placed on the left arm. Lead aVF is placed near either foot, typically at the ankle.
