Hilbert Series

Hilbert series of graded modules and graded algebras are introduced and studied in this chapter. The h-vector and the a-invariant of a graded algebra are defined using the Hilbert-Serre theorem. For Cohen-Macaulay algebras, we present their main properties. Some features of Cohen-Macaulay and Gorenstein extremal algebras will be presented.
