ABSTRACT
Embedded intelligent control (Tian et al. 2010) and cross-layer network protocol designs (Xia et al. 2012) have been considered as the two of the fastest-growing research areas in recent years. As mentioned by Xia et al. (2011), combining these two areas can introduce significant advantages for both modern control and networking communities. This novel class of systems is referred to as NCS (Day and Zimmermann 1983; Srivastava and Motani 2005; Nie and Comaniciu 2006; Guan et al. 2011).
