ABSTRACT

As you might imagine, it would be quite impossible to discuss every game that has ever existed from a mathematical point of view. It is, however, true that there are interesting mathematical questions about most games that have been played throughout time. I apologize if your favorite game was not included in this book; in selecting the games discussed, I’ve tried to choose some of my own personal favorites while balancing the desire to introduce mathematical topics in a cohesive way. This chapter is the home to some other games that either just didn’t fit into one of the categories of the initial six chapters or were similar enough in style to an earlier-presented game that, while having very interesting questions to explore, did not illustrate the mathematical toolbox items as well. Of course, I have used the “author’s prerogative” in completing this chapter, so games are here simply because I have found the game to be fun, or found the questions about the game fun. I sincerely hope that you have enjoyed this book and the information contained within, but since you are not quite through the main portion of the entire book, please read on and enjoy!
