ABSTRACT
My favorite casino game probably has to be Blackjack. It seems to be a favorite amongst gamblers in Las Vegas (there are often more active Blackjack tables running than all of the other table games combined) and also amongst my students. My guess is that the reason for this is the excitement and decision-making, balanced with the relative ease of play and simple rules. Of course, we’ll discuss all of those in time, while also taking a look at some of the mathematics of Blackjack (and some variants), but for now, I think a few short notes from the history of Blackjack are in order.
