ABSTRACT

Low-level processing, also known as early processing, is a subset of computer vision systems, and processing techniques and is in contrast to high-level processing which is concerned with cognitive level processing. Low-level processing is usually achieved with images captured by camera and processed by many image processing algorithms. The hardware implementation may be carried out in the electronic or in the photonic domain. In the photonic domain, the information about the image is usually fed into photonic devices and processed. The photonic domain processing may also be carried out in the electronic domain after photonic to electronic conversion.
