ABSTRACT

Introduction Salivary mucocele is the most commonly recognised disease of the salivary glands in dogs but is rarely reported in cats1-9. Mucocele refers to a collection of saliva in the subcutaneous tissue near the site of a leaking salivary gland or duct. Lesions are not true cysts as they are lined with nonsecretory granulation tissue that forms secondary to the inflammation caused by the presence of saliva in the tissue1,3,8,10,11.
