ABSTRACT

The final chapter of this book will explore some of the key tenants of a comprehensive counterterrorism strategy steering away from an overestimation of the threat and an overreaction to it. In particular, it will look at options for preventing and countering violent extremism; addressing the role of nongovernment actors; reframing the political discourse; reviewing the impacts of foreign policy, especially as it relates to the use of drones; reforming intelligence policies; and, last but not least, redefining success.
