ABSTRACT
A series that came into immense popularity there was Diabolik Lovers, which are otome games where one finds himself as the main character being boarded by a family of sadistic vampire boys. The types of men encountered depend on popular themes from the time of the games' creation, and the general mood and rating of the particular game itself. While the Diabolik Lovers games have never been officially translated into English, unlike the aforementioned cage-featuring Amnesia: Memories, the anime series a couple of years ago has been. It was extremely interesting seeing people react to the truncated show with lack of context from the games. While anime adaptions of otome series generally are not more than long-form advertisements for the more in-depth games themselves, the Diabolik Lovers anime did offer a completely unique blending of scenarios from the first game that would only be experienced piecemeal by playing through all the routes.
