Theirreversibilityofanyheatexchangerisduetotwofactors,thetransferof heatacrossthestream-to-streamtemperaturedifferenceandthefrictionalpressure dropthataccompaniesthecirculationoffluidthroughtheapparatus.Wewilldemonstrateshortlythatthefluidftictionandheattransferirreversibilitycansystematicallybereducedbyslowingdownthemovementoffluidthroughtheheatexchanger. Thistechniqueissynonymouswithemployinglargerheatexchangers,thatis,more heattransferareaandmoreheatexchangervolume.
