ABSTRACT
The future is always difficult to predict, given the dynamics of a changing society. Futurists study patterns and trends, and then try to extrapolate the future of these patterns and trends; but trends, by nature, never continue. There will always be a reversal, and sometimes it will be abrupt. Does that mean that interest in innovation will wane in the future, or will it take a different direction, producing a different outcome?
