ABSTRACT
There is a theoretical solution for the true behavior of a pendulum, but it involves mathematics so ghastly that only a few undergraduate physics majors ever are exposed to it, and when you look at the “solution” it provides no insight into what is going on. There are many ways to express the exact description of pendulum motion, but all of them require combining an infinite number of elementary functions.
