ABSTRACT
This chapter is the first of several where we present applications of monitoring to particular areas of environmental systems, such as atmospheric processes, hydrology and water quality, terrestrial ecosystems, and wildlife monitoring. In this chapter, we focus on atmospheric processes; this implies monitoring solar radiation, weather, concentration of various gases, as well as concentration of particles and aerosols.
