ABSTRACT
Maria is 15. She was a runaway from her home when she met her pimp. He is violent and abusive toward her, but he is also a form of protection and source of shelter and drugs. She has been involved in prostitution for over a year, traveling from hotel to hotel in large Midwestern cities.
