ABSTRACT

In this chapter an exploration will be made into how human trafficking has become more prevalent among localized street gangs. A dynamic change within both nationally recognized and locally identified street gangs has resulted in an overall lack of organization from the top down. Traditional rules and “street law” generally followed by these organizations have become a thing of the past. The lack of leader ship coupled with an absence of rules to follow has caused gang members to commit crime on an individual level instead of typical group activities. Human trafficking has come to the forefront as the crime of choice for these gang members to make money.
