ABSTRACT
The purpose of this text is to give an introduction to Markov chains, which isabranchofmathematicsthathasapplicationsinamyriadofdisciplines includingphysics,biology,chemistry,economics,andcomputerscience. Markovchainsareasubeldofanareaofprobabilitycalledstochasticprocesses.Thetextprovidesanintroductiontoanareaoftheoreticalmathematics as well as a tool for solving applied problems in diverse elds.
