ABSTRACT
There is a “superficial muscular and aponeurotic system” (SMAS) in the parotid and cheek areas . . . A careful study of the SMAS may lead to its proper use during surgical procedures on the face. Thus, in this paper, we consider both the anatomy and the potential surgical applications of the SMAS.1
