ABSTRACT

Important developments have occurred in recent years in the new field of fluid mechanics associated with nanotechnology-nanohydromechanics.

In general, nanotechnology is a set of methods for production of items with a given atomic structure by manipulating atoms and molecules. Traditional hydrodynamics is associated with motion of gases and liquids at macroscopic scale. Micro-and nanohydromechanics is the area of mechanics where one studies the motion of gas and liquids in amounts conventionally related to nanotechnology (less than 100 nm = 0.1 μm).
