ABSTRACT

Contrast Radiography of the Large Intestine ✓ Pneumocolography is the procedure of choice. ✓ A barium enema is a complex procedure that requires anesthesia. Endoscopy has largely replaced use of the barium enema.

✓ Suspected ileocolic intussusception or cecal inversion ✓ Need to differentiate between the large versus small intestine ✓ May aid in identification of strictures or masses ✓ Mucosal lesions are better examined with a barium enema, colonoscopy, or ultrasound.
