ABSTRACT

I. Introduction The third phalanx is evaluated radiographically primarily with the LM and 65° DP-P3. The other three views of the routine DEE contribute some information but diagnostic evaluation of P3 using these three views is limited to localized areas. Interpretation of P3 for abnormalities is based on identification of the six basic abnormal findings (signs) discussed in the Chapter 5. This chapter deals with the identification of these six changes in specific anatomical locations associated with the third phalanx and hoof wall as they appear on the radiographic views of the DEE.
