ABSTRACT

Acute inhalation injuries are fortunately rare and occur sporadically, and both the nature of exposures and the affected populations are highly heterogeneous. Together, these factors make such injuries a difcult subject of study, and much of the literature is in the form of uncontrolled case reports or series, a selection of which are presented below. There is an almost complete absence of

evidence relating to issues of clinical management, and much practice is based on precedent and analogy.
