ABSTRACT

The purpose of this chapter is to describe concrete examples of how farmer adoption of agroecological practices can be supported by researchers, extension personnel, and other professionals that work directly with farmers. We explore how the concepts of participatory action research (PAR) and outcomes-based outreach of agroecology and sustainable agriculture are applied at the community level through programs conducted by cooperative extension in the U.S. state of Vermont. This  chapter illustrates the practical application of theoretical frameworks provided in other sections of this book.
