ABSTRACT

Unless you are thirsty, in real need of refreshment, when you look upon that glass of water shown earlier in Figure 1.1, you might ask, well, what could be more boring? The curious might wonder what the physical and chemical properties of water are that make it so unique and necessary for living things. Pure water is virtually colorless and has no taste or smell, but the hidden qualities of water make it a most interesting subject.
