ABSTRACT
Most major projects that involve packaging, shipping, and handling are initiated and introduced to higher management by any one of a number of functional areas in a large company. Some projects may originate in the logistics or physical distribution departments. Others may come through industrial engineering, operations management, marketing, purchasing, or other staff areas. The packaging department generally provides technical support.
