ABSTRACT
The integration of geospatial technology, semantic web, mobile systems, and social media are important for many applications ranging from crisis management, prevention of the spread of infectious diseases, fighting the global war on terror, and military stabilization and reconstruction operations (SARO). For these applications, it is important to form partnerships between the various communities (e.g., government, local, or foreign), form a social network, identify locations of interest, check weather-related data, and ensure that the operations are carried out in a timely manner. Essentially, we need to build an integrated system that includes geospatial, semantic web, mobile, and social media technologies. In this chapter, we will discuss the design of such an integrated system for military SARO.
