ABSTRACT

This section will provide all the details of the SATA Transport layer . The Transport layer includes the framing information structures (FISes) and the Transport layer protocol.

The Transport layer need not be cognizant of how frames are transmitted and received. The Transport layer simply constructs FISes for transmission and decomposes received FISes. Host and device Transport layer states differ in that the source of the FIS content is different. The Transport layer maintains no context in terms of ATA commands or previous FIS content.
