Italian Organized Crime

Italian organized crime is made up of numerous, often competing criminal organizations. It is not the monolithic “Mafia” as portrayed in the media. However, these independent Italian organized criminal groups have managed to survive for often hundreds of years. They are a distinct phenomenon in the study of organized criminal organizations.
