ABSTRACT

This chapter provides readers with a framework for accessing and processing media narratives which convey lived mental health experience. The strategy for learning outlined addresses a continuous, cyclical process of learning with specific points of engagement – before, during and after the accessing of media narratives as shown in Figure 9.1 (Morris, 2015). It is aimed at teaching personnel, workplace trainers and healthcare learners providing a structure developed around Kolb’s (1984) experiential cycle with learning and ref lection progressively refined through successive events. Various learning theories are highlighted relating to processes and dynamics operating throughout this learning cycle.
