ABSTRACT
In this chapter we bring together the ideas of the last two chapters, by showing that the range of a surjective ring homomorphism is always isomorphic to the ring of cosets formed from the kernel of the homomorphism. This says informally that homomorphisms and ideals convey essentially the same information.
