ABSTRACT
You will hear some people say that America has the best healthcare system in the world, which would lead one to ask, “Why worry?” There is, in fact, a great deal to make all of us worry.
America may have the best healthcare system, if you are well insured with first-dollar coverage and if you can actually access that best healthcare when you need it. These remain big “ifs.” Even given the historic passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (known as the ACA) in 2010 that was intended to expand insurance coverage greatly, all the “ifs” are unlikely to be completely resolved by one congressional action.
