ABSTRACT
Lean evolved from the Japanese Toyota automobile manufacturing company. It is disappointing that it didn’t come from healthcare, because its core philosophy reflects what should be the core philosophy of healthcare. Lean is built on two pillars: respect for people and continuous improvement (Koenigsaecker, 2013).
