ABSTRACT

On the basis of historical data, halide modification (HM) of high-molecular compound, which was carried out in 1859, natural rubber (NR) was exposed to modification and addition to NR was dissolved in perchloromethane, through which chlorine gas was running through. Modified NR is a powder product with content-fixed chlorine not over 62-68 percent, which does not have properties of elastomer [1, 2]. HM of NR may be referred to as one of the first attempts of commitment of bringing new properties to the polymer with help of chemical modification.
