He also contributed to the Lean and Six Sigma ideas of nancially quantifying quality improvements. To support this he introduced ideas such as decreasing chronic waste, limiting rework, and minimizing the cost of quality. He is known for mentioning that management will always ask the question “will it make us money.” This has led to the concept described as the law of diminishing marginal returns that extended the idea of cost of quality.
