ABSTRACT

The concept that needs to be introduced once more at this stage of the conversation and seriously explored is system thinking, a concept very much in vogue 25 years ago that eventually fell out of favor, overshadowed by more quantitative schools of thought. The Systems approach is built on two pillars: The first, as has been said, is the belief that “the whole is more than the sum of its parts.” This means, basically, that the interactions between the parts of any system-be it a car, a person, or an organization-are just as important as the parts themselves in terms of the system meeting its objectives.
