ABSTRACT

Visiting surgical team trips, particularly when run by an academic center, may also have training as a goal, but often it is the HIC resident who is the recipient of surgical training. Trips are seen as an opportunity to manage surgical disease not frequently

managed in HICs or to perform a high volume of specific types of cases, such as cleft lip and palate, where more cases may be done in a week than some residents would see over the course of their residency or fellowship.
